The Museum of the Unknown opened in 2026 in a former bank building at 4105 Gulf Blvd on St. Pete Beach. It bills itself as the first alien relic museum in the United States.
What's inside
The centerpiece is a collection of carved relics that owner Dave Metcalfe says came from a dig near Tula, in Hidalgo, Mexico. Some of the carvings show figures with elongated heads and large almond-shaped eyes. The museum presents them as evidence of ancient visitors. Those claims are the museum's own and haven't been independently verified, so go with an open mind and decide for yourself.
UFO & alien relic tours
The museum is connected to Sharkey's, which runs UFO and alien relic tours on the beach at night. You can make an evening of it with a Sharkey's Glass Bottom Tours night paddle.
Nearby
It's on Gulf Boulevard in the middle of St. Pete Beach, close to St. Pete Beach, Jimmy B's Beach Bar and the beach hotels.
